Work from Georgia, Oklahoma, Virgina and Maine (2011)

Early this summer I embarked on a traveling assignment with my long lost brother, president of the Missy Elliot fan club and bona-fide photo badass Jake “everyday I’m hustlin” Stangle. We jetted from state to state in a glorious seven days and six nights. Though the images above will be a nice souvenir from the ride, honestly the 50ft rope swing outside Winchester, seafood feast by the bay in Portland and countless other adventures/laughs along the way will be my lasting memories. Here’s to the next one.

Semen Sperms for WAD Magazine. New York, NY (2011)

Above is part two of my work with WAD Magazine and Dee & Ricky last spring. This is Semen Sperms, a downtown misfit and street artist associated with IRAK and A-Ron The don. These photos were made over an afternoon poking around the lower east side at some of his usual haunts. WAD #49 “THE STREET ISSUE” is now in stores on both sides of the Atlantic, so check it out and find more work that I’ve yet to post.

60 pg. Custom 11×14 in. Portfolio (2006-2011)

Some of you may have heard that for the past 8-10 months I’ve been editing and producing a new print portfolio. The process started with looking at every single image and project from 2006 to the present and concluded as 60 handmade prints in a leather bound book. In the end the portfolio is a mash-up of all different kinds of images which I hope illustrates my voice at this time and place. It’s time to let out out a big sigh of relief.

Now it’s off to share the fruits of my labor! If you or your publication would like to take a peak please do let me know, I’d love to share.

Vashtie for WAD Magazine. New York, NY (2011)

Over the past month I’ve been working on an exciting collaboration with the French Magazine WAD (We Are Different) and NYC friends Dee & Ricky. It’s taken us all over the city and involved an exciting cast of characters. Vashtie, who’s pictured above, is a downtown girl and style mavin with everything from music videos to a Jordan shoe with her name on it. Though the issues hasn’t hit news stands yet I wanted to give you a quick sneak peak. Stay tuned as I’ll be posting more work from the project soon!

West Dover, VT (2009)

Recently I have been stuck in the analogue world, which is very refreshing but not conducive to blog updating. Right now I’m knee deep in prints after finalizing an edit of work from 2006-2011 which will be my new print portfolio. I must say It’s been incredibly exciting to see so many images in print that have never escaped the computer before.

Someday soon I’ll share the new portfolio with you but for now here are two images that I stumbled upon while editing for the book. These photos were made while staying at a friends in Vermont a couple years ago, a keen blog reader may recognize one of them from an earlier post.

This winter my friend Zac was working in Red Hook when his wrist acquired a serious gash from a Japanese pull saw. As Zac is averse to ER visits, he opted to sew up the wound up with fishing line and some help from a friend in my living room. I made this image about a month later once the wound had a chance to heal.

On a chilly afternoon this past January my friend Christine was kind enough to sit for a few portraits. We shot at her apartment in Red Hook, a neighborhood that tempts me to relocate with every visit. I expect that one of these images will find a home in the new print portfolio so keep an eye out, hope you enjoy.

B&W Contact Sheet, The Fells, MA (2007)

I don’t often shoot B&W but recently stumbled upon a few rolls from the past. I’ve been busy compiling a broad edit of work for a new print portfolio. It’s been exciting to sift through the archive and perhaps mix in a some untouched gems with the work of recent years. Above is a forgotten roll of Sofija Canavan from 2007, stay tuned for more!

South and Central Portugal (2010)

This past fall I took a break from New York to visit Portugal for the first time. My trip took me through the cobble stones streets of Lisbon, fishing towns near the cliffs of Palmela and Coimbra, home to Europe’s second oldest university. I don’t regard these images as a concise project but more of a collection of work from a time and place, just making the photos that pull me in.

Sitting on the southwestern edge of Europe, Portugal felt a bit more authentic and untouched then the more popular European destinations. If you ever have a chance to visit, you should jump at the opportunity. Below are a few snapshots from the road, hope you enjoy.
